Recalled by Gill Clapham
Interviewed by Diana Holden.
Gill remembers the trams going up Clifton Street, Dickson Road and down Red Bank Road to the Tram Depot at Bispham.
When she was about 7 or 8 years old, she mainly travelled with her Mum and sister to Whitegate Drive Health Centre for sun-ray treatment.
As she lived in Bispham, they would get the bus into town and the tram from Stanley Terrace, opposite The Blue Room on Church Street.
She was fascinated by the Tram Driver and the way the seats moved when the tram changed direction.
When she was Deputy Mayoress she had the amazing opportunity to travel on a toast-rack tram.
Gill remembers the big step getting on and off the tram, the sliding doors and watching out for cyclists when getting off because it could be very busy.
